Up
for sale is a beautiful French made brooch from the late 1890's.
This
beautiful piece contains a nice collection of natural pearls and a
painted center depicting a beautiful young girl.
This great
item is very well made, it also has matching French hallmarks on
every part of this piece.
It is set
with 38 natural pearls measuring from 3 to 4 mm each. These pearls
are estimated to be natural, not cultured because of the age of this
piece plus most of the pearls are drilled through and you can see
that there's no bead in their centers.
The center
part of this beautiful piece is hand painted scenery showing a
beautiful young girl in a mountain background. I believe it to be
made of porcelain or some shell material. The painting is very nice
and looks all intact.
The gold
tests for 22K solid gold, as said, it has French hallmarks in a few
places and the quality of work is very high. Even the back has some
kind of mechanism which must be used for more then a brooch, maybe
it was used as a lace bracelet top or for a choker.
This
brooch measures approximately
3.50cm long by 3.3cm wide and it weighs 15.8 grams.
