opal weighing 9.22 carats.
This beautiful rock is still in the matrix, I
removed as much of the mud as I could.
This stone is good grade material and is good for
either cutting or just tumbling into a free form piece.
The opal for sale here is 100% natural, untreated
and imported directly from Ethiopia.
This opal is perfect for jewelry but can also be
used as a specimen for collection or studying.
As you can see, opals show different color play
depending on the angle you look at it.
Ethiopian opals are known as water gems and as
clear gems which unlike most other opals which are mostly
translucent to opaque.
Most Ethiopian opals become very clear after being
in water, when dry they act like most other opals yet some stay
clear. These type of opals are much more interesting the any other
opals I've seen.
